Why Floating Bungalow Camps?

Sometimes they are the best means to access a certain fishery. Acute Angling utilizes a great variety of fisheries during a typical season. Most are best accessed by our highly mobile, extremely comfortable Blackwater Explorer yacht, however, on occasion, navigability is the defining characteristic of a river, as in the spectacular, but almost inaccessible Rio Tucanosystem. Under those conditions, our comfortable floating bungalows are the perfect fishing tools, providing headwaters access, mobility and surprising comfort.  Amazon Fringe uses its floating bungalows only in locations with productive secluded lagoons that are otherwise inaccessible to more conventional navigation.  After your arrival in Manaus, you travel directly to Amazon Fringe's camps via a state-of-the-art, 8 passenger Cessna Caravan turbo prop floatplane; no express boats, no endless boat travel and no expensive daily Fly-Outs. One comfortable flight and you're there.

Imagine an Airstream travel trailer on floats. That's what you'll find in the middle of the deepest Amazon!  Each floating bungalow unit has its own full sized bathroom and shower. Fully air-conditioned, your bungalow has comfortable beds, space for your gear and electrical service for your camera equipment. A floating dining room is the site for group gatherings, happy hour and delicious meals.  Fresh baked bread and delicious desserts highlight your meals. Ice-cold beer, soft drinks, and Brazil's national drink, the Caipirinha, flow freely throughout your fishing trip. Our bilingual Floating Bungalow hosts and managers are long-time Amazon experts, knowledgeable fishermen and experienced hands in the complex logistics involved in Amazon fishing operations.  Small groups of eight or fewer anglers allow our attentive staff to offer personalized hands-on attention. 

The pristine river systems we fish have naturally high tannin levels which prevent the reproduction of mosquitos and other biting insects. No bug worries here. You'll fish from a well equipped, 18 foot bass boat, two anglers and one guide per boat.  Come fish with the best to challenge the mighty peacock bass.

             Why Safari Camps?

Un-navigable might just be an under-statement for the wild waters of the Rio Travessao. We have developed a means to access these challenging waters with our uniquely effective safari camp trips . The high gradient rivers of Brazil's Guyana Shield region hold probably the most diverse population of sportfish an angler will ever encounter. Payara, giant catfish, bicuda, fast-water peacock bass, and more lurk in these almost inaccessible waters. No yacht or floating bungalow camp can reach these isolated areas. Only with our safari camp operation and a float plane to get you there can anglers experience these extreme fisheries.

This isn't your typical rough camping experience, however. Our excellent staff will see to it that your only responsibilities are to experience the incredible fishing, enjoy the remarkably delicious meals and savor the ice cold beverages, available all the time. You'll be comfortable with fresh linens, fresh towels and daily laundry service. Our field generator provides camp lighting, electrical outlets in each spacious, safari-style tent and full refrigeration. When conditions warrant, we can move to new waters by simply picking up the entire operation and making camp in an altogether new site. The camp will be set up and waiting with ice-cold cocktails at the ready upon your arrival after a full day of incredible fishing.
