Uraima Falls - Located in the mountainous
southern part of Estado Bolivar, Uraima Falls effectively separates the
headwaters of the Rio Paragua from its lower reachesi. During the
region's dry season, payara pursue huge schools of baitfish up the river
and to the Falls. Bait and predators alike pile up below the Falls
in the spectacular rocky waters. Excellent daily catch averages (typically
6 - 20 big fish per day) and more trophy payara (up to 40 pounds) than
anywhere else in the world.
