Rio Parismina Lodge - Acrobatic, Flying Tarpon

Acrobatic, flying tarpon are one of the most exciting and challenging species an angler can encounter. Want more? How about giant snook, wahoo, tuna, snapper? How about exotic freshwater species like guapote, machaca and mojarra. All of these and more lurk at beautiful Rio Parismina Lodge. Located on 50 private acres of lush Caribbean jungle on the banks of the famous Parismina River, the lodge offers amazing fishing variety, luxury accommodations and a wealth of amenities. A fleet of big, stable, 21-foot, modified V-hull ocean craft access the roving schools of big tarpon that patrol the beaches and offshore waters just outside the Parismina River's mouth. Lightweight aluminum jon-boats let anglers get way up into the freshwater rivers and creeks that criss-cross the backcountry. In between fishing adventures, enjoy the lodge's elegant accommodations, pool, Jacuzzi, open bar and fantastic meals.

A profusion of wildlife - Located 5 kilometers from Tortuguero National Park, Rio Parismina Lodge offers guests the opportunity of seeing an extraordinary variety of tropical wildlife. There are over 850 species of birds and literally thousands of different plants and flowers. The fauna of the area is varied and, with the ability to fish both the inland river systems and the inshore and offshore waters, it is almost assured that every guest can see Howler monkeys, Spider monkeys, White-faced monkeys, Toucans, Sloths and many other species of exotic animals. Tortuguero, which is derived from the Spanish word for turtle, is also famous for the abundance of nesting turtles. These giant sea creatures come to land each year to lay their eggs. Here, on the beaches of the national park, you can see the Leatherback (the largest turtle in the world), the Green turtle, the Loggerhead and other species.

Luxurious and comfortable lodge - When the fishing day draws to a close, Rio Parismina Lodge's comfort and ambience come to the fore. Every day, guests are served three great meals in a family style setting. The kitchen staff is renowned for the delicious deserts they prepare. Rio Parismina lodge offers a pool and Jacuzzi for when the muscles need a bit of pampering and lazy siestas after lunch to avoid the mid-day sun ..... very popular with most of the guests. Sample Itinerary - Rio Parismina Lodge Trip

Day 1

San Jose, Costa Rica is a readily accessible destination from anywhere in the United States. Most major airports offer direct flights. Normally, guests will arrive on an international flight to San Jose the day before they are to arrive at the lodge. Once a group of fishermen have cleared baggage claim and customs, the lodge's representative in San Jose will provide ground transportation from the airport to the Cariari hotel and help with check-in. The following morning around 5:15am, the representative will return to the hotel to provide guests with transportation to the air charter section of the airport. After a 30-minute flight to Parismina, guest will receive a quick breakfast and orientation and should be on the water fishing before 7:30am.

3, 4 or 7 Days

Guests are served three great meals daily in a family style setting. Anglers can expect eight hours of fishing each day. Whether they prefer to fish the backwater rivers and lagoons, fish the ocean or participate in non-angling activities, the choice is always theirs. The lodge has a pool and Jacuzzi for when the muscles need a bit of pampering and siestas after lunch to avoid the mid-day sun. Another welcome feature is the always open, self-service bar stocked with water, sodas, lemonade, beer and cocktails at no extra cost to guests.

Final Day

The morning after the last day of fishing guests board the chartered aircraft and return to San Jose where the lodge's representative will be waiting to provide transportation and assist with hotel check-in. The day following that, the representative is available to provide transportation to the international portion of the airport.
