Rio Travessao Variety
This one is for the hardcore angler only. The upper Travessao River, isolated by impassable waterfalls below and a protected Indian reservation above, has long beckoned as a potentially outstanding variety fishery. Now we finally have the chance to operate a full scale fishing trip within its most interesting and varied section. The Travessao's isolated waters hold a true potpourri of Amazon species. Big, ugly trairao up to 40 pounds, bicuda up to 3 feet long, hieroglyphic patterned suribim and the biggest black piranha we've ever seen haunt the narrow upper reaches, while the wider central section holds peacock bass in the shallows and trophy payara in the quick running rocky areas. Deep holes harbor a contingent of giant Amazon catfish. If you're not afraid to rough it and you're looking for some extreme fishing excitement, then join us on the wild and isolated Travessao and become among the first outsiders to experience these eerily beautiful lands.
Rio Travessao Camp - Anglers arrive by floatplane to a semi-mobile "Safari Style" camp. Our tribal hosts have mandated that we leave no permanent signs of our presence in the reservation. We've worked within those restrictions to create a comfortable, secure camp that we can settle into or move in a day as water conditons indicate. Equipped with a generator, lights, freezer, fans and most importantly, cold drinks, the camp is a pleasant base of operations for our anglers. Each roomy "wall-style" tent is equipped with a 110VAC outlet, camp cots with mattresses and plenty of storage space. Our efficient camp staff handles all aspects of camp maintenance and laundry is washed daily. A covered, outdoor dining area provides a congenial meeting and relaxing area for our groups. The food is better than you might expect, with fanatastic fresh fish daily and floatplane-delivered beef and chicken. Occasionally our Indian hosts will deliver jungle-sourced fresh game. We bake our own bread and serve great mixed drinks and appetizers. You won't go home hungry.
In spite of all the comforts, it's important that anglers remain aware that this is ultimately camping in the jungle. It's not for everyone. We bathe in the river or use solar showers, we share covered latrines and there is no air-conditioning (although the highlands region is quite cool at night, making A/C unnecessary). The camp is very remote and logistics govern every aspect of how we operate. If you're OK with this, then you won't find a more exotic or exciting fishing trip on the planet. This is the ultimate destination for the travelling angler. We guarantee that you'll experience a one-of-a-kind adventure in the world's most incredible place.
