     We are uniquely experienced and knowledgeable about South American exotic species, in particular, peacock bass, payara and freshwater dorado. As hosts we provide unparalleled on-site help with both conventional and fly fishing techniques, tackle and a variety of extras that no absentee agency can provide.

To help you choose a specific trip, outfitter, lodge, or guide, we carefully measure the following considerations: 

Optimal Angling Times – We Tell it Like it is – Virtually all destinations have a peak angling period. Knowing the pertinent seasonal idiosyncrasies of any location is an essential part of planning a successful fishing trip. We will tell you the best times to fish a particular destination, and warn you of any ‘off’ fishing periods. Acute Angling considers every detail from moon phase and seasonal weather patterns to pre-spawn periods in a particular region. 

Specific Physical Conditions of Each Fishery – Spin and bait casters require unique conditions often quite different from those preferred by many fly casters. If you’re a serious fly fishing angler we won’t send you to a murky river with a low fish population. We appreciate your preferences and carefully match you with the right destination. 

Fish Size vs. Sheer Numbers – Is individual fish size more important than sheer numbers or vice versa? If you are after trophy peacock bass, we will recommend only those destinations known for their big fish population (such as Central Amazonian). If you are after action and high numbers, several exciting clear water fisheries might be your best bet. 

Incidental Species – Are you interested only in one species, or do you want the option of catching many different types of fish?   Is your focus peacock bass or would you like to mix powerful payara with giant catfish.  If you want diversity, consider one of our variety or exploratory trips.   If you want to focus on one species, we’ll help you choose a destination that has the best populations of this particular gamefish. 

Accommodation & Budget Considerations – There are many different accommodation options  to choose from.  Do you want a full-service fixed lodge, a houseboat (Like the Amazon Angel), a remote jungle camp or do you want to stay within a budget?  We will make sure to show you all the options (not just the most expensive), and let you decide which is best.
