Peacock Bass Pre-Trip Guide

Lure Selection Chart

peacock bass lure Peacock bass fishing trips call for some specialized tackle.

Most peacock bass operations do not sell lures, flies or any other tackle, so anglers should purchase their lures locally or order directly from Acute Angling prior to their trip. (The Blackwater Explorer is an exception, however lures are more expensive in Brazil.). Acute Angling is pleased to offer complete tackle packages specifically designed for each of the rivers we fish. Our packages focus on the colors, sizes and varieties proven to be most effective in each particular fishery and are specific for your tackle preferences (ie. Spin, Baitcast, Fly). We can provide as complete a package as you need, rods, reels, lures, lines and accessories; or you can simply order a terminal tackle package. These packages are designed to save you time, money and frustration by providing everything you need for your trip in one place, and at better prices than other sources. Complete packages are in stock and available for shipment well in advance of your departure. Click here to e-mail your trip information and ordering instructions, or call us, Toll-free, to talk about your specific tackle needs;

We also offer completely automated, on-line purchasing at www.Tackle-box.net . You can assemble your own lure package by following the generalized guidelines shown below. Make sure to bring a selection of the recommended lures listed in each lure type -- in a mixture of both light and dark colors or patterns. Variable conditions can require switching through a lot of tackle. In many cases, there are lures listed under each classification. Those listed first are most popular, although the order might be disputed by peacock 'veterans'. Be careful not to load up on smaller prop baits. You will need some of the big ones.

* indicates that factory hooks should be replaced with Mustad 4X strong #1/0 or #2/0 trebles and center treble gang removed.
