Our top priority - providing the highest quality fishing experience possible
The best time to fish the Amazon is during the falling water phase of its flood pulse. This varies with location. Giant peacock bass range from the lower Madeira through the Rio Negro basin; a 1200 mile arc. We access optimal fishing conditions by moving through that arc, following the dropping water. We use our 4 operations to move through the Amazon’s varied waters, giving us excellent fishing conditions from August through March. Each has its own logistical mechanism to access optimal water levels and conditions at different times in different regions. In short, any date we schedule is at the optimal time in the area it moves into as the season progresses.
Book with no worries - You're fully covered by IMG Travel Insurance and Global Rescue Extraction
Complete Travel Insurance and Extraction Coverage are automatically provided as part of our “All-Inclusive” package.

This Ain’t Roughin' it!
What does all this stuff about air-conditioning, comfortable lounges, electrical outlets, private bathrooms and hot showers have to do with fishing, anyhow? Shouldn't you be sleeping on the ground and roughing it to have access to great fishing like this?
Not at all! We use our specially designed systems to get you to the absolute best fishing waters without the roughin’ it part. Comfortable, relaxed and rested anglers recharge their fishing mojo every evening and all night through so they can maximize their fishing fun and effectiveness every single day. Spoil yourself!

First-Class service and a polished professional staff
Our operations are staffed by full teams of highly-trained and experienced professionals. We’ve been operating Amazon trips for decades and carefully polished the pieces that make up our complex programs. But the Amazon is a really complicated place. So there are always new challenges to address and new improvements to make. What better way to do it than by putting all of our heads together to find the best way forward. Each season, our Acute Angling team members arrive from their far flung home towns (some as far as two days by boat), to spend several days together at a concentrated team meeting. They work, dine and relax together at our home-base hotel, where we review every aspect of our business process and trip parameters. We all return home better able to work together and understanding better how to satisfy our anglers.
Full-time professional guides – Top-shelf, high-tech fishing tackle
Our fishing trips are designed to maximize your fishing success.
Fishing success anywhere depends on fishing knowledge; local, technical and tactical, and fishing gear appropriate for its purpose; balanced, dependable and sophisticated. We provide the best of both to ensure that we meet your fishing expectations.
Some of our fisheries are exclusive, some isolated, some gigantic; All are spectacular!
An Authentic Amazon Experience
We don’t fish at the base of dams or in polluted waters or commercial waterways. You don’t have to travel to the Amazon to experience that. We understand that part of the attraction of an exotic fishing trip is experiencing beautiful vistas, uncrowded waters and untouched wilderness.
So we go the extra mile to bring you to exclusive Indian reservations or remote hinterlands or protected public parkland so that your trip comes complete with an authentic Amazon wilderness experience.
The world's most powerful fish – The world's best freshwater fishing
Pound for pound, peacock bass are the world’s most powerful freshwater fish.
Right behind them come an entire range of other incredible exotic species that will challenge any other fishing experiences you’ve ever had.
Nowhere else can you experience the bone-rattling topwater explosions of giant peacock bass, the arm-straining power of Amazon catfish or the line stretching, hand-to-hand combat of tangling with any of these river monsters on a fly rod.
More than just fishing, our trips provide a broad Amazon experience
In-trip extra activities
Sure, some anglers won’t give up a moment of fishing time … we get that. But for those wanting more than just fishing, we offer a whole range of included Amazon experiences to round out your trip.
- visits to local villages
- jungle hikes
- informative seminars
- shore lunches
- spotlighting adventures
- Brazilian barbecues
- kayak fishing
Safety is our priority – Satellite Communication, Navigational Electronics and First-Aid Training
For over 25 years, Acute Angling has enjoyed fishing seasons free of serious injury in our operations
…but… you never know when an emergency can occur. So, like the Boy Scout’s motto, we want to “be prepared”. As part of our yearly, week-long team-building meetings, our entire staff has attended a thorough first aid training course recognized by the American Safety & Health Institute and headed by Dr. Sidney Chalub. They are certified in a full-range of areas, from simple wounds to CPR and we value their expertise with real pride in important skills well-learned and the enhanced safety and security of our clients.
No Mosquitoes - Nothing but the Purest Water – No Health Risks
We fish in benign environments
No Mosquitoes – Our fisheries are devoid of mosquitoes . The blackwater rivers and lagoons where we fish are too acidic to support mosquito reproduction. We simply do not encounter mosquitoes on our regularly scheduled trips.
Pure Waters – The areas you'll be fishing are virtually unpopulated, therefore water-born contagious diseases are not a threat. We use commercial bottled water so you can eat and drink with confidence.
We guide you every step of the way from the moment you reserve your trip
