Incredible Numbers - Great Fly Fishing
Gigantic Exclusive Indigenous Reserve
The Focus
Incredible Numbers | Constant Action | Protected Reserve
Put simply, this is the Amazon's most numerically productive fishing trip. Our motherships enjoy exclusive access to the gigantic, hyper-productive Matupiri Reserve. The comfortable yacht's great mobility allows us to roam more than 300 miles of majestic waters with isolated lagoons, winding tributaries and lazy creeks. Optimal fishing conditions occur here from mid-August through mid-October and the fish know it!

If you're looking for constant action and incredible productivity on any tackle type, then this is the trip for you. Extremely high daily catch averages (from 30 - 100 or more a day!). Incomparable productivity on the fly in the Amazon's premiere fly fishing destination. Trophy fish in the teens are common, but fish over 20 lbs. are rare here.
Private, air-conditioned cabins – Limited to 8 anglers per group with floatplane only access, private bathrooms, hot showers. This trip fills up a year in advance, so make your plans early!

Description
Fish the wonderful Matupiri Reserve - The Ultimate Numbers Destination - on the comfortably air-conditioned, "Blackwater" yachts.
We focus on delivering an experience that lives up to our angler’s expectations. That means we’re very careful to accurately describe our trips … and we’re totally comfortable with identifying the Matupiri Reserve region as a remarkable numbers fishery … for fly and conventional anglers alike. It never fails to deliver quantity, while delivering consistent quality; great numbers, plenty of fish in the teens and a well-earned reputation as one of the Amazon’s premiere fly fishing destinations. It’s nice to be able to under-promise and over-deliver and this fishery lets us do just that. This is the place to go if constant action is your preference. Although fish here rarely exceed 20 pounds, nowhere else can anglers encounter such an embarrassment of riches. Space is limited on this trip and is usually filled at least a year in advance. If this sounds like the trip for you, call now to reserve your space for the season after next—because next season is already almost completely full!
Our great mobility allows us to access three rivers and a huge flooded forest lake in this pristine, unpressured fishery. over 350 miles of exclusive, majestic, fish holding waters with hidden lagoons, winding creeks and placid lakes. We concentrate on the areas with optimal water levels and productivity during each part of our eight week season here. Our "turn-on-a-dime" flexibility allows us to find great fishing on every one of our trips. We boast extremely high daily catch averages. Great top water action and superb fly fishing opportunities. Return each evening to the comfort and security of the Blackwater Explorer.

Accommodations
The beautiful Blackwater Explorer
Built to fish - The "Blackwater Explorer" is one of the most attractive yachts sailing the Amazon basin. Her classic and graceful "Amazonian Regional" design blends perfectly with the pristine blackwater habitat she calls home. But more importantly, she's been built to fish. Her broad beam maximizes her functional interior space while keeping her length manageably short. This gives her great maneuverability, letting her safely and easily penetrate into inaccessible, meandering headwaters streams. The yacht's impressively low draft (she displaces only 1.2 meters) allows her to readily pass shallow sandbars and obstructions that would keep less efficiently designed boats back in port.
Designed for fishermen - The Blackwater Explorer was designed for fishermen. Her well-organized debarkation deck lets a full group of anglers get started on their fishing day quickly, without crowding, fuss or confusion. The debarkation deck's waterline exit lets you walk right onto your fishing boat, with no ladders to climb. All of your fishing gear and take-along items can remain right at hand and be ready to go when you are. We've done our homework and we've designed the best purpose-built sportfishing vessel in the Amazon. Luxurious and Comfortable - The Explorer is a fishing mothership of the highest caliber. The list of her luxurious features is long. Here are just a few.
- Private bathrooms w/sink, toilet and hot shower in each cabin.
- Roomy cabins with plenty of storage space.
- Two meter high ceilings. Gone are the days when six-footers have to duck.
- Huge (6 and 1/2 x 7 meter) common area. Spacious dining room and lots of walk-around space.
- Big, wide, non-slip stairwells.
- Cabin doors open directly to outside spaces.
- Shallow draft for improved access - almost 1/2 meter less than typical Amazon yachts. The Explorer can fish areas we've never accessed before.
Comfort and Security - The "Blackwater Explorer" will take you to some of the world's most remote fisheries, with more comfort than anyone could expect hundreds of miles away from the last vestiges of civilization. Hot showers, private bathrooms, personal air-conditioners, 110VAC in each cabin, reading lamps, storage cabinets - who could expect all this on an Amazon fishing adventure? You should! Spend your day on fast bass boats fishing in productive, hidden backwaters, then return each evening to the comfort and security of the Blackwater Explorer. Added to this, the high level of personal service provided by our staff and the dedicated fishing expertise provide by our guides make the Blackwater Explorer the ultimate way to access the incredible Amazon peacock bass.
